A Prophet’s Reward

How do you receive a prophets reward??

Matthew 10:40-41 NKJV

He who receives you receives Me, and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me. [41] He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward. And he who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.

When we recognise the one God is speaking through we will receive what they have to say. Remember the donkey?? If His master paid attention to what the donkey was doing, he wouldn’t be so offended. Numbers 22:28-30 NKJV

Then the LORD opened the mouth of the donkey, and she said to Balaam, "What have I done to you, that you have struck me these three times?" [29] And Balaam said to the donkey, "Because you have abused me. I wish there were a sword in my hand, for now I would kill you!" [30] So the donkey said to Balaam, "Am I not your donkey on which you have ridden, ever since I became yours, to this day? Was I ever disposed to do this to you?" And he said, "No."

Its astounding a donkey talks. Its more astounding the man talks back to the donkey and has no concept of what just happened. How often we see someone stuck in their pain or offence unable to understand the situation. they completely miss their divine opportunity.

God will speak through others, yet the pain it has caused can blind us to actually receiving the prophets reward. To receive the reward of the prophet, you must recognise the prophet as sent from God.

The donkey actually saved his masters life.. Numbers 22:31-33 NKJV Then the LORD opened Balaam's eyes, and he saw the Angel of the LORD standing in the way with His drawn sword in His hand; and he bowed his head and fell flat on his face. [32] And the Angel of the LORD said to him, "Why have you struck your donkey these three times? Behold, I have come out to stand against you, because your way is perverse before Me. [33] The donkey saw Me and turned aside from Me these three times. If she had not turned aside from Me, surely I would also have killed you by now, and let her live."

Could it be the very thing that you think has caused you pain be the very thing that is trying to save you from destruction?? I’m not talking about abuse. I’m talking about the truth cutting into the heart that brings conviction to shift you either towards God in repentance or away from God to destruction.

Proverbs 27:6 NKJV

Faithful are the wounds of a friend, But the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.

Help us Lord to receive the prophets reward. Let us recognise who God sends to us, and speaks to us. Let us not be like the master of the donkey that could only see the natural and blame his pain on the very thing that saved him.
